  I think this man with a particular hair ornament in the Fly image and later in Fort Marion is one and the same, in the Fort Marion photograph, posted earlier by Perico, as Lan-cey... Do you guys agree? |

Jeroen,
I think your spot on, this is the same man, the mouth especially is exactly the same. I have always wondered about this man and who he was. I think he can be seen in 3 of the Fly photgraphs and he draws the eye if for no other reason than that he is the only one not wearing a head bandana. As to that hair orniment, I did think at one time it was a feather, which would be unusual enough with these particular Apaches, but now I'm not so sure, anybody got a better definition photo of the man?

excellent discovery!!  I also agree with Jeroen on the above identification of Bésh and Zhonne. No idea who the third man is, though. Here's a photograph of Lan-cey (Giles Lancey) at Carlisle. What do others think, is this the same person as in the two images above? As far as I know, there are a couple errors in the identification of the Chihuahua/Ulzana band at Fort Marion. |

Yes, I agree... as he was selected for Carlisle, Lan-cey must have been a young man, while the images above clearly show an older man, at least too old for school... and it appears that there are a number of errors in the identification of the Chihuahua group indeed... Perhaps you could post the Carlisle photo here again for comparison...
