LaDeane
LaDeane Miller I have to admit I don't quite follow.
But that is only because of my limitation !
This is interesting and raises many questions.
Therefore I would like to ask if you know:
Pretty Feather:
1. To whom was Pretty Feather daughter of ?
2. When was Pretty Feather born ?
3. To what tribe and band was Pretty Feather born into ?
4. In what tribe and band did Pretty Feather live as an adult ?
According to Hardorff, Pretty Feather "was of Yankton stock" [1].
According to Hardorff, Pretty Feather's son Eagle Elk grew up among the "Oyukpe Oglalas" [1].
So Pretty Feather was perhaps born/raised/lived among the Oyuhphe Oglala.
Long Whirlwind
1. When was Long Whirlwind born ?
2. Do you know Long Whirlwind's Lakota name ?
3. Who were parents of Long Whirlwind ?
4. To what tribe and band was Long Whirlwind born into ?
5. In what tribe and band did Long Whirlwind live as an adult ?
According to Hardorff, Long Whirlwind's son Eagle Elk grew up among the "Oyukpe Oglalas" [1]. '
So Long Whirlwind was perhaps born/raised/lived among the Oyuhpe Oglala.
It would be interesting to know if this Whirlwind is the same Whirlwind who Francis Parkman described from his travel in 1846, who belonged to the Kiyuksa band which belonged to the Bear people (Southern Oglala) [2].
Pity Them:
1. When was Pity Them born ?
2. Who were parents of Pity Them ?
3. To what tribe and band was Pity Them born into ?
4. In what tribe and band did Pity Them live as an adult ?
Perhaps Eagle Elk was considered Oyuhpe because he married an Oyuhpe Oglala Lakota woman Pity Them ?
Mary Walks With Pipe:
To whom was Mary Walks With Pipe daughter of:
1. Long Whirlwind + Pretty Feather Woman ? or
2. Eagle Elk + Pity Them ?
Looks At Her:
1. Do you know her Lakota name ?
2. When was Looks At Her born ?
3. Do you think this is the same Looks At Her (b.ca.1838) who has been said to be sister of Crazy Horse 3 (b.1840, d.1877) ?
4. Or was it a younger female with the same name ?
You said Looks At Her was married to both Alexander Yellow Wolf & Geoffrey Chips.
5. Is Alexander Yellow Wolf another name for Club Man ?
Club Man was said to be husband of Looks At Her, who was said to be sister of Crazy Horse 3 [3, 4].
6. Is Geoffrey Chips related to Crazy Horse's 3 hunka Horn Chips ?
Depending on the answers to these questions, some possible answers could support what the Clown family has been saying about Crazy Horse's relatives.
Your answers could also explain what I have sometimes wondered about.
That is how Eagle Elk (b.1851, d.≥1944) was really related to Crazy Horse 3 ?
What has been repeated after Eagle Elk in the Neihardt's interview about his relation to Crazy Horse 3:
1. "My father was already related to Crazy Horse's father. They were cousins" [5].
2. "My father married Crazy Horse's aunt" [5].
3. "He [Crazy Horse] choose to call me "cousin" from the marriage of his mother." [5]
Actually you could interpret this (he - me - his) in 2 ways.
a) "His mother" meaning Crazy Horse's 3 mother.
Hardorff took it in that way and commented that this did not fit in his mind because Crazy Horse's 3 mother was the Miniconju Rattle Blanket Woman and Eagle Elk's mother was "of Yankton stock".
Even though Hardorff thought (incorrectly) that Crazy Horse's 3 stepmother was a Brulé, it didn't either fit in his mind.
b) "His mother" meaning Eagle Elk's mother.
Which I think is the correct interpretation.
Because that would be in coherence to what Eagle Elk also said, that is "my father married Crazy Horse's aunt".
So according to this, Pretty Feather Woman (Eagle Elk's mother) was related to Worm (Waglúla).
But I wonder how ?
