Charcoal's father was Red Plume. he was not a relative to Red Crow but was in his band...Fish Eathers band. His brother Left Hand became became chief of his own family band..a subband within the Fish Eathers band. More info can be read in "Charcoal's World by Hugh Dempsey. Henri

What I can add is that the burial place of John grass is at the St. peter Cementary, Fort Yates. Got this from the book...My Search for the Burial Sites of Sioux nation Chiefs by Veryl Walstrom. no mentioned of Uses Him as a Shield. Henri
