No that is not true. I will get the name of the museum. Grandpa and his wife were over there to speak about ten years ago. They were in a museum and there in an exhibition was one of his drawings! They freaked out.
but yes most of them are in NYC but we have never been able to see them. I did find an old book that has 6 photos of his drawings and tells all about Cronau but have not found any of them online.
If either of you can point me in the direction to at least get photos of all his drawings that would be great. Dietmar I printed this one you posted and Gramps was so thankful. He said that THIS is the one they saw in the German Museum. Now weather it's still there or not is another question!

Dietmar---THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! WOPILA TANKA!! Sinte is a great grandpa who lived and rode with Crazy Horse and surrendered with him at Fort Robinson. He was taken to Buffalo Bills Wild West Show and that is where he met Cronau. We have pictures of some his drawings, and some are in a museum in Germany but they won't give them back to Grandpa. Thank you for posting this you are very kind.

Hi Everyone
Looking for some help...we have a photo called Spotted Tail's Delegation 1880 by CM Bell...the Smithsonian lists the two white men in the photo as being one or two of four different names. Do any of you experts have the photo or know who exactly the two men are? The white men I mean? We have the photo and are using it for a poster but need to correctly identify the white guys. The say one is a Bordeaux but we dont think so.
Thanks. Hope this made sense!

There is no answer to that question. It could mean many, many things and only the family would know. But yes, the translations are almost always wrong. So much of the Lakota language is not translatable into English. It is not a written language.

personally, I don't believe that story. there are so many stories about CH. So many ''relatives" with his ''possesions" and it is all just b.s. He Dog and Chipps stories are the only ones I almost believe, cuz if you talk to the elders out in the hills, who knew from people who were there and lived and rode with CH till the end, those are the closest to reality stories. The ones who go around saying they are ''related" to Ch are the ones to mistrust first in my experience, and also to the elder's experiences and knowledge. The ones who really ''know" are the ones who will not talk openly to strangers about it. True Lakota do not speak much of the dead, especially of one such as Crazy Horse.

I think that photo is at Red Cloud Agency in crawford, Ne/Ft. Robinson...but then I agree it looks later than 1870's....

wow. that sign is dubious at best. ''Raped the squaws" ?? There was no rape until after Sand Creek for the most part. And ''squaws'' is a white man term and derogatory at best. Surprised that sign has not been taken down.
