He seems a lot younger than 16 in this 1891 photo, I would say not older than c. 10 yo.

thank you Carlo - in the context of the era/time period it is not impossible - and comparing to my own family images from the 1890's where the precise ages are well documented He seems a lot younger than 16 in this 1891 photo, I would say not older than c. 10 yo.

click onto image to enlargeThis certainly looks like the family group image that was published in 1906 in an American newspaper. It does not have the "feel" of a Brown Brothers image - seems to be from a commercial studio photographer. It would be nice to find out where the original print is. Our member Wolfgang always provides us with excellent pictures, so this time again. Here is another picture of William Sitting Bull´s family: Thank you Wolfgang!!

I was able just now to locate the actual, original glass negative which is held at the Buffalo History Museum as part of the "Howard D. Beach portraits of Native Americans at the Pan American Exposition of 1901" collection. donated some time ago by the Giallombardo family. The overall collection beyond the Native American portraits consists of around 57'000 negatives. It will take years to have it all catalogued, inventoried and scanned. click onto image to enlarge image generous courtesy of the Giallombardo family
