William Sitting Bull (Runs-away-from-him/Nakicipa) a natural son of Sitting Bull by his wife Her-four-robes was born in what is today southern Manitoba or Montana in about 1878 and died near Wanblee, Pine Ridge Reservation on December 8, 1909. He is buried near Wanblee, Jackson County, South Dakota at Presbyterian Cemetery, at section B, grave No. 1. William "Willie" Sitting Bull performed for several years with the Buffalo Bill Circus which brought him to Europe in 1904. The late artist, William Gene Stewart (1955-2009), a.k.a. William Sitting Bull Stewart is his great-grandson.

click onto image to enlarge This certainly looks like the family group image that was published in 1906 in an American newspaper. It does not have the "feel" of a Brown Brothers image - seems to be from a commercial studio photographer. It would be nice to find out where the original print is.
