In simple terms I would suggest you place a box between the top menu bar and the forum categories and inside you place links to either the most visited areas or areas that you would point for viewers and guests to take a look at.
For example, I went in search of the site's rules, and I simply can not find it. I want to make sure I know the rules that way I do not break them. Having a link to the direct thread will help others who are new that also seek it.
But this is only a thought, the staff may do as they please...

Thankfully, we haven't really had a need for rules here. If there were one rule, it would be to respect one another. Unlike other boards, we don't get into arguments, and we have zero tolerance for those who want to "stir things up" or cause trouble. Everyone is here to learn and share. It's probably the most civil place on the Internet! Regarding your first suggestion, we don't have a way of doing that. ProBoards is a free site -- that is why there is advertising at the top -- and we are at their mercy as far as the set-up. To find topics of interest, you might want to scan the 50 most recent posts, which you can access in the Forum Statistics box near the bottom. Otherwise, I think most people probably check the threads for tribes that interest them. Diane
