Dear folks,
Felix S. Cohen [of the Handbook of Federal Indian Law] and his wife Lucy Kramer Cohen were very active in passing and implementing the Indian Reorganization Act in the 1930's. They traveled often to Indian Country, made many friends, and took photos of them. In working on a video biography of Lucy, their daughters and I have found many terrific photos of people then living and working on the Ft Belknap, Pine Ridge and other reservations and on the Isleton, Laguna and other pueblos. Only a few of these people were identified in writing by the Cohens. We have managed to identify a few others. I note that most of the photos published on your site are from much earlier periods. Would it be suitable to post some of these photos in an effort to identify more of the people? Thanks, nkb

I think it would be wonderful. Others on this site might be most interested in photographs of elders of this time period. And I like knowing that someone is working on Lucy Cohen. Is it true that a good part of the work on the Handbook of Federal Indian Law is hers---but Felix's is the only name on it?
