Anyone can post photos!

When I first began on these boards, I didn't know how I could post photos, since I didn't have an FTP site or other server I could go to. I solved that problem and (if you don't know this way already) YOU CAN TOO !!! (This might help new members with the same problem.)

Simply get a Facebook account. You can upload photos to albums on your page. When you display the Facebook photos on your screen (NOT the thumbnail, but the full photo), simply right-click and "Copy image URL..."

Then paste the URL between (img) and (/img) (except use brackets rather than parentheses) within your post, "Preview" first to make sure you got it correct, and then "Post Message!"

This question often comes up, so it´s a good idea to help with some tips and instruction, Dick.

If you prefer other ways than Facebook, here´s what I recommend:

In order to post pictures to this board, the photograph must be on a server. If you do not have access to server space, the easiest way is to send digital photos (.jpg or.gif) to me ([e-mail]) or to Diane Merkel ([e-mail]). We will put the photos on our server as soon as possible. Please just say where you want them to be posted (category/thread name).

If you have access to a server, it is easy to insert your photos. Simply place the photo's address within the image tags, so it looks like this except that brackets are used rather than parentheses: (img)http://www.yourdomain.com/SittingBull.jpg(/img)

I don't know if it's the same with everyone, but when I "right clicked" on the photo I had to click on "properties" in order to get the URL address. You'll find the "properties" at the bottom of the little menu that pops up.

Like I said, it may not be the same for everyone.

Just a thought.

It should work the same for everyone; i.e., the properties of an online photo should give the server address that will allow you to post it.

If you want to post a picture on this website, then the first thing you have to consider; is the photo already on the internet or not ?


If the photo is already on the internet:

Step 1
Open 2 windows (or 2 tabs) of your web browser.
In window A you open this website amertribes.proboards.com/index.cgi
In window B you open the web page where your photo is.


Step 2
In window A, start a new thread or reply in already existence thread.

Then you will get a white and empty Message window, where you put in your material (text, picture).
Above the white Message window is a line with yellow smilies. This line is marked as "Add Smilies".
Above the smilies is a line marked as "Add Tags" which has 2 rows of icons (small boxes).


Step 3
From the line "Add Tags", find the icon "Insert picture".

The icon (small box) "Insert picture" is in the second row, 4th icon from left (the first icon in second row is the "Tube" icon in red.)
You don't see the name "Insert picture" unless you put the mouse cursur over it without pressing.


Step 4
Press the icon "Insert picture".

Then you will get a line which is written (img)(/img).
Except you will see [ ] instead of ( ) around the word img.
You will later put your photo between these 2 brackets.
But first you have to "catch" your photo, as done in step 5-6.


Step 5
Go to window B of your internet web browser, where your photo is.


Step 6
Put the cursor (arrow) with your moose over your picture and right click on the mouse and choose "Copy picture URL".

It is not enough to choose "Copy picture".
You have to copy the URL, which is the address of the picture on the internet.
An example of URL or an internet address of a picture: sirismm.si.edu/naa/baegn/gn_03678no2.jpg


Step 7
Go to window A and click your cursor in the center of the text (img)(/img), that is between these 2 "img" brackets.


Step 8
Paste the address (the URL) of your photo by right click on your mouse and choose Paste.

Then you will see how (img)(/img) changes into (img)sirismm.si.edu/naa/baegn/gn_03678no2.jpg(/img)
Then you have finished to insert a photo.
You can see if it is okay or not by Preview.


If the photo is NOT on the internet:
Then you have to put your picture on the internet (upload it).
The member Frank suggested once to upload pictures on the website www.aijaa.com
This is a website for everyone for everything.
Without any doubt, there are other websites available to upload photos.
When you have put your picture on the internet, then you will proceed through the steps above.

Since Proboards upgraded their boards last year, you can post photos already uploaded in the internet even easier.

Just copy and paste the URL of the picture, for instance www.yourdomain.com/SittingBull.jpg into your reply window.

Then select the URL and click on the little button "insert image" (sixth button from right).

If you like, click on "Preview" (lower left corner) to check if the picture has been posted successfully.
