Hello. I found there were at least, am not certain, but at least 12 Wahpeton villages in 1862. Someone correct me on this lol...... So I will post each village and number it along with this message. So, someone jump in and help me out. I will post them like...Village 1. or Village 2. with the name of the leader of the people. So, here goes.
Anawagmani - He Goes Galloping Along later took the name Simon Anawagmani
Took over leadership of the Hazelwood Mission Farmer Band from Paul Mazakutemani.

Simon Anawagmani He Who Goes Galloping Along aka Simon Anawagmani: - headed in 1862 a Wahpeton band located near Hazelwood Mission - first full-blood Dakota male to convert to Christianity in 1840 or 1841 - president of the Hazelwood Republic - saved some whites during the 1862 Uprising - he was wounded in the Wood Lake Battle - served as a scout for Sibley in 1863 expedition - he died in June 1891 at Sisseton-Wahpeton Reservation
