Some time ago Cowan had for sale this image, labeled as a Barry (I tend to agree with this) portrait of a Crow man. I'm pretty sure I've seen this man before, but I'm not able to associate any name with his face. Any ideas? (Now that I think of it, a name has popped up in my mind and it's a Crow name...but I'd like to hear your opinions first ) Thanks!

According to the information from the Denver Public Library, this man is identified as "Black Bird, a Crow male".

I've got a copy identified as Yellow Hawk. No tribe.

Thanks, Jeroen and Grahame. I wasn't to able to find a photograph, but here's the Crow I was referring to: Bear in The Cloud (this Sharp portrait was originally posted by Grahame in the "Crow individual photographs" thread) I know there was a Yellow Hawk (Yanktonai) photographed by Curtis, but it's unlikely he's our man. Incidentally, there are no Yellow Hawks or Black Birds in the 1885 Crow census...

Maybe he's Hidatsa.

Yes, it could be. Barry, in the same period, realized a series of Hidatsa portraits.

A close up of the guy (had made also details of the necklace and the knife shelter but I lost them some days ago, when the CD they were stored in was crushed).
