in your old pictures Poncas (prior to 1875 and with no date) are more dressed as southeastern indians or Iowas whilst later on they look like yanktonais. any idea?

Prior to 1877, the Ponca lived near Niobrara in north central Nebraska.

After the Ponca were moved by force by the U.S. Government to Oklahoma Territory, they then lived near Ponca City in north central Oklahoma.

What you say is partly true: Ponca were removed in 1879. Chief Standing Bear had a successful case before the US Supreme Court in 1879, with his attorneys  (Standing Bear v. Crook), arguing for the Ponca to be allowed to return to their homelands, and many did return to Niobrara area. You can view some of Thomas Henry Tibbles papers at the Smithsonian Archives.  Here for example  He was editor at the Omaha World-Herald.
