Big Thanks to Wolfgang who sent me the picture in better quality!!! As I already guessed, the photo is completely misclassified. I had found this info a couple of weeks ago: This is the picture from Wolfgang: Despite its labeling, the photo has absolutely nothing to do with the Indian Police of 1882. Instead, these are all members of a 1907 show group that toured with the 101 Ranch of the Miller Brothers. There are many portraits of that group at Smithsonian Institute (SIRIS), taken by DeLancey Gill. So these are the identifications so far (photos left and right by DeLancey Gill, 1907): Bluffing Bear is a show veteran who toured earlier with Buffalo Bill, for example in 1887 and 1889. The only one I'm unsure about is the man on the upper left. Any ideas?
