Hello friends. I recently visited Apache Pass. I'd like to share my personal photos that I took with my phone. Visiting Native American heritage sites across the United States is a passion of mine. (When I can afford it!) Feel free to ask ay questions. More pictures coming soon. Picture 1: Entrance to Apache Pass. Picture 2: Ruts in the ground still visible on the Butterfield Overland Stagecoach Route. This is the view immediately leaving the mail station. Picture 3: Remains of a building of the second Fort Bowie built in 1868. Picture 4: The remains of the Butterfield Overland Mail Station. Picture 5: The grave of three people killed in Apache Pass. Date is Jan. 24, 1872. Names are A.J. Bice, J. Petty, and T. Donovan. Picture 6: The grave of Pvt. Orisoba Spence, Company G, 8th Cav. 1847 - 1876. Killed in Apache Pass. Picture 7: Part of the Spring at the pass. The dehydrated soldiers of the California Column sent two volunteers to make a run for the Spring for water, from the Overland station. Picture 8: The remains of the Indian Agency building used by Thomas Jeffords, Agent to the Chiricahua for the Bureau of India Affairs. Picture 9: Another view of Jeffords's agency. This is near the first Fort Bowie and the Spring. I hope you enjoy the pictures and there will be more soon.
