One Bull - Sitting Bull's nephew

I took some time and reviewed the Standing Rock census Lists for the years 1887 to 1893. Here the One Bull entries:

In this Census I noticed for the 1st time, that there was a 2nd One Bull (Blackfeet) on Standing Rock (No. 607 on the List).

He was married to Maniwin and had a son Assists, so we can exclude these persons from the Hunkpapa One Bull family.

Census 1892

see above, but now the children have Christian first names! Looking at the ages we can assign the names.

1091 Ida 11 years (= Returns Last)
1092 Clara 1 year  (= Rose One Bull)

In this year the Blackfeet One Bull must have passed away. Under No.1111 we find his wife Maniwin and the children.

The agency clerks doesn't seem to have taken it so seriously with the records. The name changes are also interesting. Wonder if the family made the changes or if the clerks did that

Here you can find interviews en statements from Chief Henry Oscar One bull, he talks about some of the battles, the day Sitting Bull and Crow Foot were killed. I found it very moving to read.
