I'm looking for any information about the Blunt Horn family in the Pine Ridge Reservation, I belong to the family and I only know so much. I know my great great grandpa's name was John Blunt Horn and he did tell tales for some books and that he worked for the Indian Police around the turn of the last century. Any information or pictures would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome kiyuksa96, as far as I know John Blunt Horn was an informant of James R. Walker, who wrote several books about Lakota culture and history. There is a picture of Pine Ridge police officers Captain George Sword, Running Hawk [probably Joseph Running Hawk], Blunt Horn [John Blunt Horn], Joe Buck [rather Joe Bush] and others at Smithsonian Institute, but it isn´t online, yet: collections.si.edu/search/detail/edanmdm:siris_arc_21970?q=blunt+horn&record=42&hlterm=blunt%2BhornHope we can add more soon...

Blunt Horn is an old name among the Oglala. There was, according to winter count records I've been shown, a warrior of the name in the 1820s. Must be an ancestor of John Blunt Horn.
We need more Kiyuksa folks on here!
