My research is the same . I maintain that ,a soldier from fort snelling minneosta mustered in between 1864 and 1865 ,part of the fourth regiment and thirteenth division traveled east under a captain John E smith. John E smith served in south Carolina with the entire fourth regiment under william tecumseh Sherman's Carolina campaigns and March to the sea .according to a historian at the Minnesota historical society ,there were some 138 scouts present in south Carolina under Smith .they consisted of mdewakantonwan. Sissetowan and wahpekute bands along with some santee . I requested that roster a week ago and it arrived here in Canton North carolina on Saturday .it is a roster of those scouts ,their wives and children and families . If members wish for me to type it all out in a thread I can take the time to do it. As I began going over some of the names , I began to see how I've come to find relatives who I matched to on the DNA websites. Altho I no longer have an ancestry profile due to a personal issue on there ,I did have an opportunity to retain my raw DNA file and data and gedcom tree . It's my hope that this time around someone here might be willing to help me look into this so I can find the identity of this soldier .
What brought me back to ameritribes . Well , after giving up here sometime back, I Joined a fb group dedicated to finding our ancestral connections and family . There was a member of the group who inquired about my lines and I showed them.she threw a bunch of info at me within seconds which was very impressive .so I asked for a little more . She then turned around and said she'd have to charge me 75 dollars an HRfor the research. Disgusted and disappointed that a group was supposed to have involved free research i blocked her .as I looked over what she'd sent me , I also began to recognize the format in which it was written. And it was from ameritribes proboards . Ams that's when it hit me why she was able to put those lines together so quickly . I wouldn't doubt she's a member or this forum in some way and has been doing the copy and paste and sending it to people who don't know that proboards even exists and passing it off as bonafide time consuming research. I felt victimized and I felt a deep sense of pain that was done to me .that my own legitimate ancestry had been dangled in front of me with a price attached to it . As far as my DNA matches go. I found names like. Rencountre . Zephier . Bagola. Flood courneyor. With relatives in sisseton. Lower brule and possibly Yankton. Some of which I've already met in person in sisseton .should anyone be willing to help undertake the task of me finally bringing my research to an end here I'd greatly appreciate it
Thank you
