In a book "The Apache Wars" it states that during the first battle of Apache Pass, several legendary Chiricahua partcipated in the battle. Mangas Coloradas, Cochise, Victorio, Geronimo, Nana and others. It is famous for being the first and only battle were a large body of Chiricahua openly attacked a U.S. Army post. There were estimates to be up to 500 warriors who attacked 110 of the California Volunteer column who were crossing Arizona to drive out the Confederates. Things were looking good for the Apaches until the Howitzer Artllery peices were brought into the battle, which drove away the Apaches. Cochise later said that the presence of the "Wagons" aka the Howitzers was the deciding factor. Was this battle a direct consequence of the "Cut the Tent" episode?
