I am researching the Great Buffalo Hunt of January 1871 hosted by the US Army for Russian Grand Duke Alexei Alexandrovich. Native American leaders in attendance were listed by Buffalo Bill as Spotted Tail, Pawnee Killer, Red Leaf, War Bonnet, Black Hat, and Whistler. As a boy, Carlos Montezuma aka Wassaja also witnessed the Hunt with his adoptive father the Italian American photographer Carlo Gentile. I would appreciate any information on this event or these people.
