I was just going over my member profile and noticed that I am categorized as a new member. I've been regularly perusing and posting to this site for over two years now. Is there any other member category other than "new" and "expert". Of course this is trivial, but I was just wondering.

Hi, smacmill!
The member categories were set by ProBoards, but Dietmar and I have the ability to change them. It's never been mentioned before, so we've never discussed it. These are the categories and numbers of posts for each:
New Member, 0-49 Junior Member, 50-99 Full Member, 100-249 Senior Member, 250-499 Expert Member, 500+
Your profile shows you have made 32 posts, which is why you are still in the "New" category. We appreciate all of the time you have spent with us. Unfortunately, there isn't a system for classifying members by length of time although I think that would be an excellent and better way to rank people.
Thanks for asking the question!
Diane

Diane,
Great explanation of member categories. I am a New Member, having discovered the site fairly recently. I believe the categories are fair, but time and/or login's might also be used, especially at the New, Junior and Full Member categories. A suggestion would be to maintain the posting count, but to promote a New Member to Junior after a year. A Full Membership might to attained by the number of posts, or after maybe 2 years, or after so many logins. I have used the site many times so far for studying Native heritage without posting. That's the rational behind logins. I support the posting count for Senior and Expert Members, although the numbers seem a little high!
