This is an appeal for anyone from Birdtail or folks who know people from that reserve in Manitoba. I've been working the past week with Marcell Bull Bear, Donna Bull Bear, and other members of the Oglala (Pine Ridge) nation. We are all trying to work out the background to the Bull Bear family and their band, the Kiyaksa or Kiyuksa. As many of you know, they are a leading family among the Oglalas going way back.
Anyway, there are stories of historic, real old (18th century) connections of the family with Santee or Dakota people now up in Canada. We'd like to work out the connections in detail. I came across a reference to a lady named Yvonne Bearbull up at Birdtail. She participated in some of the commemorative marches in Minnesota for the War of 1862 and the 38 hanged in Mankato. I wondered if Yvonne, her family, or anyone knows anything of a possible link down to the Bull Bears at Pine Ridge. Just throwing it out there!!
best wishes
Kingsley

According to Charles a Eastman a group of them left every summer to attack for there family killed. im sure it would've the same group, like an entourage. a group of warriors that would a never left each other after experiencing war together a bond only a comrade feels for one another or a great leader.

Mitchell koda: It was interesting to read the book Iye Ohdakapi: I knew Arthur Young, he would come here to Ft. Totten for the pow-wows. I never really talked to him, I knew he or his wife were related to Inkpaduta. It seems professor Herbert Hoover didn't know what to ask in these interviews. I knew the Pratt sisters too. one time they came with a drum and wanted to sign up for the singing contest, but committee wouldn't allow them. Rev. Pratt their dad was a singer. he would come here and sing with the lone Buffalo Club. i can't remember his first name. Toksta ake,Elbow Bump, Cinye Louie
