Native pictures in the homepage

I'm feeling a little awkward in pointing this out, but I have noted that both the banner on the homepage and the one in the introduction feature only pictures of Dakota/Lakota people. Is there a reason for this? I feel (but that's personal, of course) that, for a website called "American Tribes" , it would be nice to have more than one group represented in its banners...I understand that, for many reasons, the main site and the board are quite Lakota-centric (not that I'm complaining about it ) right now, but I nevertheless hope that it will attract more material and information about other tribes too. Do you think that adding a more "pluralistic approach" in this iconographic part would help in this respect?

I have to admit, I had the same thought. But I figured is was strictly a personal view. The ones chosen are extra special and look fantastic. You must admit, it's pretty hard to find a dramatic, high resolution photo of a Mohawk. And no matter how you choose, someone will be left out. I dunno.

Clw, I wasn't suggesting to throw in the dustbin the pictures selected , only that it would have been nice to add a few pictures to "represent" other native groups. I guarantee that, even if Mohawk pictures are pretty scarce (but we have quite a good number of Joseph Brant portraits ), there are many high resolution pictures of fantastic-looking natives other than Dakota/Lakota. Sure, it is impossibile to represent all tribes, but on the other hand, a parliament composed of members of three parties looks still more pluralistic than a 1 party one.

Diane, Dietmar, I really don't want to add another burden upon you, so forget this suggestion if it's to difficult to realize. Other than trying to start some activity in the other tribes' sections, there's no much I can do to give more space to other tribes.

don´t worry, your advice is always welcomed. And I agree to both of you.

Diane´s plan right from the beginning was to have rotating pictures on the starting page. My suggestion was not to change the pictures earlier than every three month or so. But new photographs or paintings will definetely come, although you have to ask Diane about details.

I have to admit to laziness concerning the photos. I used ones that I had on my computer and were of similar quality. I know there are sites that have great photos of other tribes, so I will try to find some that encompass a greater variety of tribes.

Thanks! Dietmar sent me that photo at the beginning of the summer, complete with the website name, and I love it. I'm going to rotate the entry photo every few months, so feel free to suggest a good one.
