jasper4 ... thank you. you said: "or 'loved one' lozen is a warrior woman and diiyin person who had strong Power"
it is hard to know how the power comes about or who gives it. but for her the power she possessed went hand-in-hand with her commitment to her people. it is the sign of a warrior with a very good heart - to be able to warn about enemies. if all that is said about Lozen is true, she was a noble person and a great credit to all Nde.

Scout state your sources that lozen is not pictured in the picture and since you use the terms seer or shaman I would say I don't buy in to your post. The stay in San Antonio Texas which several pictures were done was when the govt was decicing whether the group was to go on to Fla or be sent to AZ to face the gringos so called justice since the inde were the scourge of the gringo in both states. My sources are the old ones from Okla so any written word is suspect.

Power is within all yet only the brave who use it for the good of the people. Or the word power is used within the inde in many ways to people who go beyond the norm of this material world, a example in the euro world would have been Joan of arc I think. Power is in all yet it is a very strong thing which most fear to use or if used for wrong has its costs. No matter the culture there good and bad humans

"so any written word is suspect"
there is a great deal of truth in that. the books tell only part of the story, and usually not exactly from the right perspective. thank you for your thoughts, jasper4.

The premise is not to dispute anyones research or skill level, yet the intent of my is too put down what I know as oral history which can at times be overstated. Yet the facts on this site are awesome and all input is for me one of seeking knowledge. Enjun

Lozan and Nana were there. Lt. Carr remembers seeing the U.S. Soldier furthest away from the center of the Camp, towards the river by himself and seeing a group of Apaches walking towards him. Carr shouted at the soldier to stop them from coming in the camp. The soldier shouted at them to stop. One of the Apaches was a Scout and identified himself as "Dandy Jim" (who was later executed by hanging) and the soldier let him pass. One of the Apaches on the hilltop let out a Woop and Dandy Jim pulled a pistol and shot the soldier in the back. Then 24 of the 25 Scouts on U.S. payroll mutinied and started shooting. Lt. Carr then noticed a group of Apaches farther off. One of them appeared to be a woman who was shouting at the men to shoot and pointing at the camp. Then he said "kill the dreamer!!!"
So its possible that it was Lozan. This was after Victorio was killed
