Regarding Gall's brother Lone Man. Is this the same Lone Man who was in the Silent Eaters, Sitting Bull's most fiercest and impetuous warrior and the same Lone Man who was a member of the Indian Police that came and arrest Sitting Bull?

This is a fantastic website, Dietmar. It contains all the official letters written by Indian Agent, James McLaughlin, during this time frame.

I have another picture of Little Wound, but it seems like the forum has exceeded its space limits.

He looks a lot like Red Cloud. The face (and expression), the nose and wrinkles (match up exactly). Not sure about the eyes though.

Regarding the picture of Kicking Bear and Short Bull standing in front of a tree with the question: Spencer, 1891? Or Stillwell?
The exact picture appears in The Tribes of the Sioux Nation, written by Michael Johnson and Jonathan Smith. Photograph by John Grabill, 1891 (Postcard, author's collection)

Hi Emily, You really went into hard labour on this one and you produced a wonderful book that will undoubtedly bounce and blossom in my mind and others. You have the endurance of a true Lakota woman! Wonderful to see Josephine's writings and observations finally being published after more than 70 years. But, as the germans say: aufgeschoben ist nicht aufgehoben. Thank you for delivering Josephine's brainchild into this world! btw, Waggoner is the US rendition of my last name and my nickname is the old german origin Sipke
