Any thoughts? I've rarely seen hair like this - except on Poundmaker Wild West show participant? Wild West show participant? Wild West Show group? This is titled Barnum Indians. Lakota? I'm guessing late 1880s. Bull Thunder by L. A. Furlong of Kansas. Southern Cheyenne? Mid 80s?

I can´t remember exactly, but he could be a Northern Cheyenne. Perhaps a Barthelmess photo?

Thanks. Thanks for the link too. I've seen one or two of these (Fire Wolf, for example)identified as Huffman's work (early Huffman, at that) and it's nice to be better informed.

Here are a few more. I'll try this one again; we figured it was taken during the run-up to the Dawes Allotment Act and was one of a series. The others that I've seen were posted here: amertribes.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=group&action=display&thread=95&page=1 but we didn't make any [progress with this one. That's Agent Spencer and Richard Pratt in the middle, so I'm assuming it was taken at Rosebud. Here's a larger version of (I think) an Eaton photo of a group taken at the Spotted Tail Agency: Good Thunder/Sioux waiting for rations Lakota, 1890s:

Grahame, The first photo was taken at Crow Creek in Sept, 1888. (The Pratt Commission never made it to Rosebud. They didn't have enough votes to complete the mission, so a convocation of agents and delegates was held at Crow Creek. The refusal to sell land resulted in the larger meeting in D.C. in Oct, 1888.) Seated from left to right are Agent Gallagher (Pine Ridge), Agent Spencer (Rosebud), Rev Cleveland (Rosebud Episcopal Missionary and member of the commission), Capt. Pratt (commission head), Judge Wright (member of the commission), and Agent Anderson (Crow Creek/Lower Brule.) Agent McChesney of Cheyenne River is behind Pratt on the right (very short.) I have other photos of these "delegations" (even though they occurred in Dakota Territory), many of which are on these boards. I also have posted delegation members from newspaper clippings: amertribes.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=group&thread=95&page=3#2590The delegates who eventually went to D.C. in October were not all the same as those who attended Crow Creek in September. The white men standing are in other photos I have and I assume they were stenographers and assistants to the commission. I've tried hard to identify them over the years without luck. I haven't identified the Indians in front, but probably could through comparison with the other delegation photos.

Thanks. I was hoping you'd contribute to this. We struggled with the identification of the Indians in this photo, and it certainly helps to know where it was taken. The guy on the right is wearing the same hat as the man in the photo you posted on the Cross thread.

Another Barthelmess, right? The man at the left is Ridge Walker who he photographed a few times. but the man at the right? It's not Spotted Hawk, is it?
