Quirt/Riding Crop, Lakota, probably Sicangu/Brulé or Oglala, 1870, acquired in the Lawrence Plain of southern Nebraska. The handle was made from a repurposed spoke of a US Army wagon wheel, with attached strips of bison rawhide. On one side is a faintly legible penciled inscription: "Bought from Sioux on the Lawrence Plain. '70.
