Please, can anyone identify the individuals in this photograph of Frank Fiske? I got one suspicion, but I am not sure... Thanks!

Moin, Dietmar! Great and charming photo (but not really unknown) of One Bull and family. Might be his daughters (both?). I will add a much later color portrait of One Bull - again with pet -, which tells us of the long life he had. Best, Hans

Moin, moin, Hans! Always good to have you here. That´s exactly what I wanted to hear ...but in some Fiske portfolios this photo is listed as "unidentified". Looks like a fox, btw. Bis später Dietmar

What a great photo! Do you know when it has been taken... and where? I´ll change the name of this thread and transfer it to the Hunkpapa section... I´m sure we will find more about One Bull. Here´s the best known portrait of him by Bailey, Dix & Mead: One Bull (SIRIS)

Yes, Dietmar, interesting photo - with a rather queer setting. The picture was taken by the Laubins, I'd say in the late 1930s.

Seems to me there is some road building going on in the Laubin´s photo... These are photos of One Bull from the Denver Public Library: One Bull & Black Prairie Chicken, by Bailey, Dix & Mead 1882 One Bull in front of his tipi, by D.F. Barry One Bull dancing at a Sundance near Little Eagle, S.D., by Joseph G. Masters, 1936

Areb't the Bailey, Dix and Mead photos really by Cross? Here's the photo with Siting Bull by Palmquist and Jurgens (1884): One Bull's drawing of the Custer fight; he puts himself at the centre of the picture as he rides towards the soldiers to rescue a friend while carrying Sitting Bull's shield (dated ca. 1900, but probably from the same peiod as the one below; owned by The Minneapolis Institute of Arts): Anyone have a larger version of this to post? Another One Bull drawing of the Custer fight (dated to 1934? Or perhaps acquired then) with English notation by his daughter, Margaret/Magli. This copy was specifically made for the Laubins and is now on Standing Rock: One Bull's tipi (left), Fort Yates; photo by Fiske:

Yes, look at the pipebag, it´s the same as the one held by One Bull´s daughter.
You provide great photos, Jeroen, Thank you!
