Greetings from France , I had recently read that during "the great Sioux War" and especially at times of the Fetterman Massacre , a Miniconjou chief called Black Leg had helped Black Shield for the definition of the tactics ! I had never heard anything about this man so I would like to learn more about him (Biography , band of belonging and warrior life )! Many thanks Best regards

I have to admit, I've never heard of Black Leg either. The only sources I could find are two books of Monnett.
"Where a Hundred Soldiers Were Killed: The Struggle for the Powder River Country in 1866 and the Making of the Fetterman Myth" by John H. Monnett see pages 122, 124 --> Black Leg
In his Book "Eyewitness to the Fetterman Fight: Indian Views" we find a liitle bit more. Monnett quotes George B. Grinnell who interviewed Cheyenne leaders. The Cheyenne White Elk relates that “Miniconjou chiefs Black Shield and Black Leg were the principal leaders of the Lakota’s in the fight”.
Maybe some Friends from Cheyenne River can help and bring some light to the matter.

That's what I have too - that and a reference in Levine/Waggoner's Witness, which also refers his presence at the Fetterman fight
