Welcome to this board. Hope you find the information of interest. Unfortunately, while there are several photographs of this individual with the Wild West shows, the official BIA census records do not list an Oglala named Willie or William Holy Frog. Many Lakota had several names, including their official census name. It is possible that he was officially known by something else on the Pine Ridge Reservation. I suspect that he is William Frog. Born about 1881 or 1882, he was originally known as Wounded as a small boy. He is generally listed in the census records as the son of Frog #1 and his wife Bear Robe. He last appears in the census records in 1910 but was given an allotment in the far southeast corner of the reservation in 1913. After that, I lose track of him, suggesting he may have died shortly after that. There are several photographs and a drawing by him in Michelle Delaney, Buffalo Bill's Wild West Warriors: A Photographic History (Smithsonian, 2007). From Library of Congress: By Gertrude Kasebier: By F. A. Rinehart (Denver Public Library)
