it seems true that He Who Yawns had a real problem with alcohol - especially mescal. And probably part of the time when he escaped the reservation, it was just to go down to the old places in Mexico, drink heavily, and enjoy himself for several days. He must have had very bad hangovers. he is not the only one I have known like that. i knew a man who had a lot of influence on me in earlier life - a guy with fantastic strength and natural ability. he was almost pure blood native amerrican, but I can't tell you which tribe. he was a terrific hunter. but he also drank heavily, and his personal life was messed up. it's too bad. but you do meet those men who have great ability, but they are victims of some personal problem or another. and it seems that He Who Yawns was one of them. but still, after 5 decades of running the mountains and deserts, He Who Yawns was still very strong. His blood line carried great strength in it. and that is true of some of the great blood lines of the Apaches - a lot of those people kept their strength and lived to very old ages. it is amazing. and i think partly it is because the people suffered great difficulties and many battles all the time - so the Apache bloodlines were constantly being refined. the weak did not live long, and those who did live long were very strong people - men and women.
