I came on this great video by accident today. What a wonderful expression of the beautiful and admirable Apache culture, thanks to those Apaches who did this film and give us a better understanding of the Apache Way of Life. As well as thanks to all our Apache friends and members of this forum, who shared so much with us here already.

I dont like to see the crown dancers used in ways which arent not tradish, but hell these some dance and or drum for money and not the spirit.

"but hell these some dance and or drum for money and not the spirit."
it is affecting everything ... not just Nde culture. the whole world is losing its sense of direction - what is right and sacred. it is troubling. dT

Thanks jasper4, and dt. I learned and understand that the Gaan are sacred persons, spirits and that the crown dancers are impersonating and honor them. This is a delicate matter you´re speaking about and I can fully understand your concerns since you shared your thoughts with us. chicheman

That is a very well done video and has a lot of useful information. A significant problem with the video is that it gives the impression that it speaks for all Apache nations. The video is specifically Western Apache. While it is good for White Mountain Apaches, San Carlos Apaches, and the others with reservations in Arizona; much of the information is not entirely accurate for Jicarilla Apaches and Mescalero Apaches and Chiricahua Apaches, Lipan Apaches, or the Kiowa-Apache. Apaches are not all alike. There are culturally six different Apache Nations, these have been divided into nine different political groups (Federally Recognized Tribes). There are traits that unite some with others, but there are very few traits that are common to all of the Apachean nations.
