I have a question for the experts regarding Chief Red Shirt.
In an interview with the Brisbane Courier, June 23, 1887, Red Shirt says his father was a great chief, and that he was eager to prove himself a great warrior in his eyes.
Was Red Shirt's father a chief? If so, who and what band of Oglala?
