Does anyone have good-sized images of Red Horse's drawings of the Battle of the Little Bighorn?
On his depictions of the Indian villages, Red Horse identifies several of the tipis. For instance, one yellow tipi is labelled "Roman Nose Min.", another in the same picture with yellow top and base is labelled "The Yearling S.A." In another picture he depicts a yellow tipi with black smoke flaps. There is an identifying caption, but I can't read it. Anyone able to help? It's illustrated on p. 87 of Herman Viola's LITTLE BIGHORN REMEMBERED.
Thanks
Kingsley

Kingsley, Be aware that three of the four pictures on the right side (p.87) are actually inverted, including the bottom two that have writing near the tipis. Only the second from top is correct (and the big one of course). The best resolution images I have seen are on the SIRIS site, but they are still not high resolution to be able to read: siris-archives.si.edu/ipac20/ipac.jsp?session=129PV4640872V.116639&profile=all&uri=search=SW~!Red%20Horse%20pictographic%20account%20of%20the%20Battle%20of%20the%20Little%20Bighorn,%201881.&menu=search&submenu=Browse&source=~!siarchives#focus I did find something on the yellow tipi image in a Time-Life publication called The Indians (part of "The Old West" series), where this picture is shown with the caption that the yellow tipi is noted as a "sacred Cheyenne lodge". On close review of that picture, I can make out four words, which I believe reads: Sheyenne Medicine [illegible] lodge. It seems the third word is "wizard", but I can't be sure. Hope this helps, Carlo

Can anyone tell me if this is a relation to Lakota Red Horse since he does claim he heard a Santee killed Custer?
