I have been re-reading the minuted proceedings of the 1865 Treaty Commission councils at Fort Sully, and noted a sentence relevant to Charles Hamilton's photographic efforts:
At the close of the councils with the Two Kettle Lakotas, October 19th, 1865, the minutes note: "The council with the Two Kettle band here closed, and after a photograph had been taken of the group, the chiefs left the council tent."

Greetings from FRANCE ! Nice photos , if these of Medecine Bull and Wee-Oke-A are well known for a long time ,I had never seen these of Medecine Horse and Shining Cloud ! So , I would like to know who they are and their tribe of affiliation ?
Best regards !

Actually I wonder for some time now if the names were recorded accurately... hence the Two Dogs misidentification.

Here are a few more that went missing Yankton woman Idendtifed on the card as a Snake, pretty sure this is another Yankton Possibly the same man as above. Same leggings? These are more in the 'possible Hamilton' category: Spotted Fawn - even less sure about this one Hiding Bear? This is feasibly the same as Dietmar posted - i.e. Maybe, anyhow... Another possible: Jumping Thunder, Yankton Same man as in the previous post, but with added inscription

There was a 65 year-old man named Medicine Horse at Lower Brule in 1892... if the Hamilton photo is correctly identified, he could be this man:

Greetings from France , I had very often seen the photo of Hiding Bear on Pinterest but this man was called Rushing Bear and it was said that he had beaten the colonel Baker'troops in the beginning of the years 1850 ! Despite my numerous researches I had never found an account about such a fight so the photo on Pinterest is evidently mis-labelled ! So,who is he really ? Best regards !
