I recently read a book by Roger L. Jewell, copyright 2000, "ANCIENT MINES OF THE KITCHI-GUMMI." I will try to sum this up but if it is true, and it does seam he has many facts to back up his theories, what you thought was true about our historic beginnings in the America's is going to be turned upside down. Mr Jewel is saying that in the Lake Superior region around Island Royal in Lake Superior there are ancient copper mines carbon dated back to "4000 BCE". His theory is that travelers from the areas of Europe and Spain traveled to the Great Lakes region and collected vast amounts of copper ore to be taken back to Spain, smelted into copper, then traded by Cypriot and Minoan traders to Egypt. He believes they created trade with the local Natives so they would mine the copper.
But here are some interesting items that he points out as evidence of this all being true.
1. The carbon dating is 4000 BC for the mines
2. Dolmens from the east coast to the Lake Superior region with BAAL markers, which is an Ogham script.
3. Where is all the copper that was mined?
4.The Newberry Tablet and McGruer's God's found along the Tahquamenon River in the UP of Michigan in 1896. Ancient Script on the Tablets now thought to be Minoan
5.The Sutton Land Deed. Early settlers bought land from some Cree Indians. On the Deed are signatures in CREE script. The founding father did not pay attention to the markings made. The script has been recently found on this old deed which matches in large part to Basque language. Many of the symbols match the Newberry, Michigan Tablet. This links the Cree to the Basque area, or at the very least to travelers from the Basque area!
6.1727 treaty sign in Annapolis has 32 Cypriot signatures. The Cypriot Syllabary was no longer used after the 3rd Century BC. Thus in order for it to have come to the America's the alphabet must have been transmitted before the time of Alexander the Great
7. Authors time line of Copper mining here and copper used in Egypt match.
If this holds water then it changes the way we will all look at early American History. I am curious if the Cree have any oral traditions from ancient travelers. Do the Ojibwa have any oral stories?
This book is amazing to me for several reasons. Why hasn't anybody talked about this? Is his information so wrong and I am just so naive. Possible, but he has tied all this together in a very nice package and I have bought into it hook, line, and sinker. I was talking with a DNR representative about this book and he said that copper from the Upper Peninsula area has a very distinctive marker in the amount of silver that is in the copper. According to him this copper has been found all over the world. Why is this the first time I have heard of this theory? Anybody Else? I am going to post this same THREAD in the Cree site as well. I am curious about what you think. Am I the only one that bought this book?
Also there is forensic evidence from Germany which proves Egyptian mummies used nicotine and cocaine in 1200BCE. These are drugs only found in America. Just more proof of our ancient connection. If it is all true.
