Old Crow was one of the Crow leaders in the 1880 delegation to Washington. What else is known about him? Old Crow by C.M. Bell 1880 Here is a later portrait of him from the Joe De Barthe book on Frank Grouard: Old Crow, a "Friendly"

Thanks for scanning this beautiful picture, Dietmar. In the 1885 Crow census Old Crow is said to be 50 years old -his family was composed of his wife, Pretty Medicine Pipe (I think she was the same Pretty Medicine Pipe who later married Spotted Horse, and after the latter's death, White Man Runs Him - will check this tonight), 28 years old at the time, an adopted brother named Holds Up and a son, His Enemy Is Dangerous (5 years old). Old Crow was also a member of the 1873 Crow delegation to Washington (led by Sits In the Middle of the Land and Iron Bull). In 1885, he settled in the Big Horn district of Crow Agency. Old Crow died on January 12, 1905. Here are some other pictures of Old Crow: Old Crow and Pretty Medicine Pipe (a very beautiful woman, indeed), 1873 Sitting at far right, (1873 delegation group picture) Sitting at far left (1880 delegatio group picture). I'll check my books this weekend - if I find additional info, will post them here.

Pretty Medicine Pipe (who was the grandaughter of a white trapper married to a Crow woman), Old Crow's wife, in fact afterwards married Spotted Horse first and, after his death, White Man Runs Him.
In Harcey' and Croone's s White Man Runs Him, it is reported a speech made by Old Crow to General Gibbon in 1876 (in which Old Crow told Gibbon that it was unsafe to enlist young Crow scouts if the army didn't mean to fight enemies in open combat, as the young Crows, after detecting a camp, would in most cases make a rush attack) . In the same speech, Old Crow also asserted to have led many war parties.

I have been researching a wild west show in 1884. Old Crow is noted as been part of that show. It originated with with the help of Liver Eating Johnston, Tom LeForge(wife Cherry), and perhaps up to 100 Crow members, men, women and children. The show played from May 1884 in Billings and traveled to SD, Minn, Wis, and Ill. It disbanded in August in Chicago. Some Crow are noted to go to NY and some to Indiana. I am looking for more members. Stringfellow is noted. Curley was part of the show. Thanks, Dorman Nelson Biographer www.johnlivereatingjohnston.com
