Howdy,
I'm new here. Nice forum you have.
My username is HinTamaheca or 'Skinny Hair'. This is my "fun" name, or "camp" name, given to me un-ceremoniously by my mom a few years ago.
As I am 'middle-aged', I have started loosing some hair. Most of the time I keep my hair pulled back in a single ponytail. However, on rare occasions when I put my hair in braids, they are the subject of good hearted teasing, since they are skinny, pitiful braids. So it is said with a smile by family and close friends, that I have skinny hair that is poor and mal-nourished from lack of food. ;D
I have Oglala family members living in Red Cloud Community, Slim Buttes, Oglala, and Allen, all on Pine Ridge, and some Sicangu family relations on Rosebud, both in South Dakota. There was also a great great grandfather who had an Oglala wife and a Cheyenne wife.
I have also lived in New Hampshire and Massachusetts, spent some time in New Mexico and in Oklahoma as well. In fact, I have Ponca relations in Oklahoma, and though I started dancing at Pow-Wows in 1971 as a Northern Traditional Dancer, I have been dancing Southern Straight Dance, Ponca style since 1980.
I earned a B.A. degree in Cultural Anthropology with a minor in American Indian Cultural Studies back in 1978, but most of my career has been in Human Resources. I do not claim to know a whole lot, but I'm willing to share what little I do know.

Great to hear from you, Hin. It's encouraging how many Lakota people have joined the boards here. We exist to share information, hopefully to the enlightenment of all.
Best Regards
Kingsley

Hin,
I just joined a couple of minutes ago and am so pleased to find a Brother and a familiar contact. Will not feel so alone now. Had to use " pastgrand " here rather than marvin but am the same person. Hope to continue our relationship and gain more Wisdom and Knowledge.
