I hope this is the proper thread for this. I am researching the 1874 Yellowstone Wagon Road and Prospecting Expedition that traveled down the Yellowstone beginning in February 1874, traversing the Rosebud, Little Bighorn area and returning to Bozeman in May. Am trying to determine names of warriors who may have fought there and later at the LBH in 1876. So far, I have the following names linked to the 1874 fighting...some are tenuous links, others can pretty accurately be demonstrated, but I need anyone's expertise here. Thanks so much; FLM
Braided Locks/Wrapped Braids – Northern Cheyenne Crazy Horse (Tȟašúŋke Witkó) – Oglala – Lakota Flying By/Struck/Struck Plenty – Minneconjou – Lakota Gall (Phizí) – Hunkpapa – Lakota Gray Earth Tracking/Sounds the Ground When He Walks/Noisy Walking – Santee -- Lakota High Bear – Oglala – Lakota Hump (Etokeah) – Minneconjou – Lakota Inkpaduta/Red End of Horn (He-inkpa-luta) – Santee – Lakota Makes Room (Kiyukanpi) – Minneconjou – Lakota No Flesh Red Hawk (Cetan Luta) – Oglala – Lakota Shell Necklace – Oglala – Lakota Shoot the Bear – Lakota Sitting Bull (Tȟatȟaŋka Iyotȟaŋka) – Hunkpapa – Lakota White Earth Tracking – Santee – Lakota

Here is the report from General Miles of the murder of the five Miniconjou headmen in December 1876 by his Crow scouts. It is a PDF document (as usual) and honestly, the image quality is not world-shaking but as I told Henri, it is a fine line to walk between getting the image too light to read to hide the blemishes from the original document and dark enough to read with a few blemishes. Any Photoshop or other graphics application expert is welcome to come to the rescue. www.historicalresources.net/121776_Miles_DeptDak.pdfBilly Could someone please repost the PDF or a new link? The original link doesn't work anymore and I'm hoping to get access to this document.

Ok friends and neighbors...let's see if this is a "start." .gif format and can be enlarged as needed. Let me know if ok and if so it will take a day or so to clean up the rest... Please have a great evening... Regards, Rod... Attachments:

Ok...appears "an angry bear" error on "the server" precludes attaching the files of the rest of the report at this time...email me directly if you wish a copy of the files.
Regards, Rod...

This thread started with a post about Brave Bear killing Captain Keogh. Is there a Native American narrative as to why Keogh's body was not mutilated? Does anyone know of a Sioux name for Keogh?
