Hello, I would like to request any help in identifying the tribe, photographer, and/or possibly the sitters of this circa late 1860s to early 1870s stereoview photo. No backmark. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Aaron

They're Santee Dakota and I think the image was taken at Whitney's Gallery (Joel Emmons Whitney), St. Paul, Minnesota, circa 1860. I've seen several others with the same flooring. Here they are again - this time lying on robes. A clearer image of the two men:

It definitely looks like him. And my image was even earlier than I originally thought. I'll check online further with any institutions that may have extensive Whitney holdings like the Minnesota Historical Society to see if I can discover anything further. In the meantime, thanks again for all the help. Very kind of you.

Isn´t he Te-he-do-ne-cah (One Who Forbids His House), a Dakota who was executed at Mankato in 1862?:

Thanks Dietmar. I believe you are also correct. Very strong resemblance. Just found this image also.

...& a few more. Same image but Whitney added an interesting painted backdrop to the second. The carpet in the original image on the left matches with my stereoview, so again grahamew, you were right on with it being by Whitney. Thanks again to both of you gents. Very much appreciate your knowledge and help. My apologies for the thumbnails. I'm new to this board and must look into how to post a full sized image. Attachments:
