Does anyone have information about Naiches and his connection to the Reformed Church?
My grandmother used to share stories about her father, Howard R. Furbeck, who went to the Oklahoma Territory with three other seminary students: John Meengs, Peter Paul Chef d'Hotel ("P.P Cheff"), and Ties Mulder as part of a "Missionary Quartette". They were primarily sent to serve the towns that were being established along the railroad tracks, but they also participated in camp meetings that were attended by Apaches, Arapahoe, and Cheyenne.
According to my grandmother, her father baptized Geronimo. I don't have any evidence that my grandfather met Geronimo, but I have several photos of him with Naiches and I wonder if he may have played a role in introducing Naiches to the Reformed Church. I also have several photos of people, native Apache and white missionaries, who I would like to identify.
Thank you!
