The Reservation for the Ihanketon is in the south eastern corner of South Dakota in Charles Mix County, located along the Missouri River. It's Nakota name is Ihanketunwan Oyanke (Town or Village at the End), referring to their camping place of former times. Tribal headquarters is in the Town of Marty. Unfortunately they have lost their reservation boundary, their 435,000 acre reservation no longer exists. They even lost the Pipestone Quarry which was once under their control, located at Pipestone National Monument, Pipestone, Minnesota. Their tribal history is the least known to the general public.
