Would this A.W. Barker (Ottawa, KS) CDV be George Bent? The CDV would date to around 1868-?, so around the time I believe Bent was at Fort Larned. I've found two copies of this CDV online, one at a larger auction house, and the other on ebay. The ebay copy is ID'd front and back, "Light Day" (?) / "U.S. Interpreter." Compared next to the 1867 photo of Bent with his wife Magpie, it would seem a match: I can't imagine who else it could be other than George Bent, but I'm also surprised I can't find this photo ID'd anywhere as him. Perhaps I'm just missing something somewhere. This is my first post on this site, btw. Thanks for having me. Ray

Hi Ray, welcome to our boards. Unfortunately I have to disagree with you. I think the man in the Barker photo is Na-qua ke-zhick or Noonday/Midday/Light Day. He was also known as Reverend William Hurr, an Ottawa Indian who interpreted and worked as a native missionary for the Sac and Foxes. Rev. William Hurr, ca. 1869 Rev. William Hurr, ca. 1880
