Short Bull said that during the Second Battle of Arrow Creek a man named Spotted Deer rescued Crazy Horse when his horse was shot from under him. But Gray Grass (properly translated as Sage) described the same incident to his interviewer Edmond Meany, stating that he was the one who saved Crazy Horse. There is no doubt it was the exact same battle and incident. It could be that Short Bull was mistaken, but there is also a possibility that the two men are one and the same. Not much is to be found on either man, does anyone know more?
