Hello, Attached is a photo from the Black Hills. The Park Ranger has been ID'd as Orville Anderson; wondering if anyone can provide any leads as to any of the rest of the group? Also, note the beautiful floral designs on the man all the way on the right Attachments:

Thanks mnisota,
interesting photograph. If the white man is Orville Anderson, he was the pilot of the balloon in 1935.
The man standing far left is Albert Crazy Horse. Hope we can find out, who the others are.

Actually, the Deadwood Pioneer Times reported on June 27th, 1935 that one day earlier a group of Sioux visited 'Explorer II' pilots Capt. Orville A. Anderson and Capt. Albert W. Stevens at their camp near Rapid City. Both balloon pilots were 'made Sioux Chiefs' and given Indian names, 'Fly Against the Cloud" and "Swift Eagle'.
Present were Alfred Old Shield (of Pine Ridge), (Albert) Crazy Horse, Eagle Bear, Black War Bonnet, Andrew Fox, Joe Crain, Daniel and Jake Red Bill (Red Bull?), and Matthew Kills Crow, plus some 'youngsters' and a 'tiny baby' called Thunder Shield. Charlie Walking Bull was there as interpreter.

Wolfgang from Bavaria has sent me this picture, which not only confirms the identification of Albert Crazy Horse but also provides two more Lakota names. It seems that Orville Anderson changed clothes between these two photos. Here´s a video about the 1935 balloon launch: ...and a photo with Old Shield and Anderson from another video: ...and finally a video which shows the Indian group:
