I am looking for information on a Lakota man named Tasina Luta, or, Red Blanket, although I'm not sure he was Hunkpapa. He is listed as a witness on the marriage record for Joachim Crow King and Anna Tokeyahinapewin at Standing Rock in 1883. I have learned that Anna's name translates to something like "Woman Who Comes Out First". Would anyone have additional information about her band or family? I learned that the American artist E.A. Burbank painted a portrait of a Lakota woman named'She-Comes-Out-First' in 1899 but it seems doubtful this was the same person, as Crow King's wife was said by Standing Rock Agent James McLaughlin to have died not long after he did in 1884. I'm sure I read somewhere that the woman who sat for Burbank's painting was Oglala from Pine Ridge. I found one other reference to Red Blanket in a book which said he was Mnicoujou but it may have been a different person. The Crow King marriage record was discovered at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Fort Yates. Many thanks to all for any information you might have and wish to share.
