Hello everyone. My name is Catherine Cox Rivers. I am the daughter of Everett R Cox who published Welch Dakota Papers, the collection of Col A.B. Welch who was my great great uncle.
My father passed away this past March at the age of 92 and a half. He was active and engaged with life right up to the last moment.
It was his life's passion to preserve, organize and share the collection of our 'Uncle Burt' and it brings me joy to see the many references to his website in your postings.
He was working on a number of manuscripts over the past years and it is my intention to get them into publication. But first I am in the process of reading the collection from beginning to end and seeing what was included and not. (There is still more to share.)
I will also be working to update the Welch Dakota Papers website so it is more searchable by name, place and event.

Hello Cathy,
Welcome to the forum.
My condolences for the loss of your father.
Over the past seven years the Welch Dakota Papers have been an invaluable source for my research on intertribal warfare. It is an absolutely magnificent source for those studying the Plains Indians, in particular the Dakota and Lakota people. I had some email contact with your father on this years back and thanked him for taking the time and effort to put this all online for the world to read and use.
Thrilled to read that you are taking over from him and that new manuscripts are going to be published. Do keep us updated here on your developments; there are several people on this forum who may possibly be of use to you on details and background of the persons interviewed by Col. Welch.
Good luck!

Hello Cathy I am sorry that I responding to you such a long time after your original message. A lot of members on this board are very glad that you joined. I am so sorry to hear about your Dad's passing. Several years ago I had been in contact with him about some specific subjects and he was very helpful. We are all very happy that you will maintain the website with all the material and possibly more as you have indicated. On this board is a high concentration of great knowledge and expertise in Native Americana and the Lakota tribes at Standing Rock in particular. Thanks to your father's efforts and generosity the collective knowledge on the subject has been greatly expanded. Good luck with your project. Hello everyone. My name is Catherine Cox Rivers.
