I think we can have a thread for Apsalooka group photos as well. This one, by Heynes, is quite famous - late 1870s- early 1880s? For sure, before 1886. Standing, left to right: Stands On The Cloud and Sits Before The Cloud Sitting, left to right: Medicine Crow , Iron Bull (here called with his other name White Hair On Temple), Bird In The Ground.

I'm not sure if a pair qualifies as a group, but here's a Goff photo of a Crow soldier/scout and his wife. Mid 80s - 90s?

A new beautiful picture sent by Henri: Apsalooke and Nez Percé indians. Looks like a Miller photograph, but I'm not 100% sure

Currently on the Heritage Auction site, this purportedly shows Crow prisoners en route to Ft Snelling after the Sword Bearer troubles of 1887 - although you'll notice there's an additional date of 1889. I have to say, the whole scene seems rather relaxed and they don't appear to be the same group of men in the famous photo of Deaf Bull and the others in chains. Here are a couple of close-ups:

For some reason, I couldn't place this in the post above. Here goes: The other Crow photo in the auction shows the Crow agency with the Wolf Mountains in the background, dated 1887. There are bigger versions of both pictures if you register at the site.

Mmhhh...the only possibility of a connection with the Sword Bearer followers could be the man fourth from right (third from right in the first close-up) who - to me at least - looks just like Hail Stone, a warrior of the Sword Bearer group. We had a photograph of him in the "Crow individual photos" thread - have to dig it out...

I have no real evidence for this, but I wonder if they're Locke photos.
If they were travelling to Ft Snelling, surely they'd go by wagon with a military escort and then by train...

Of course! I just meant that there is a possibility of one of the subjects portrayed being in fact a member of the former Sword Bearer band. The photograph could have been taken some years after the outbreak - in fact most of the Crow prisoners stayed in jail a year or so; Deaf Bull, the last to leave Fort Snelling (he allegedly attacked one of his companion with a knife while serving his sentence) came back to the Crow reservation in the summer of 1889.
