I got this request from a member. Does anyone have info on the King Family?:
"My great great grandparents were from ft pierre. I dont have any other info. Their names were Levi and Rebecca King. Their father possibly named Paul King. He was killed carrying a white flag somewhere. I wouldnt suppose the names would be enough to research. I wonder what tribe they were? And any other names they may have carried. My grandmother Stella Apple/King passed before I became interested in my family history."
The King family is related to Isaiah Dorman. i was going to look up the title and author of the biography of him. She and others can Google the book.
I searched threads under vine and ella deloris. My grandmother said to my mom that she was related to them. I haven't found anything. My grandmothers dad Jefferson King went by a stage name of Yellow Shirt during buffalo bill Cody's shows. Where he met me great grandmother Stella Fast Thunder. Jefferson and his brothers and parents were active participants in the church Episcopal i believe. And they were born and from Ft Pierre area
In Interpreting the Evidence, Lilah Pengra writes that Baptise Pierre, the son of Isaiah Dorman, the interpreter killed at Little Big Horn, married Ataninwin Visible (or Appearing)aka Mary King. Two children Mary and Sam King. Sam King married Bessie Brought Spotted, then Mary Wakaksan. (p.147 Pengra).
Also saw on Ladonna's post April 1 2011 in the updated Sitting Bull family that Mary King is listed as niece of Sungnaikiyan Crazy Dog, son of Jumping Bull, Sitting Bull's father. Crazy Dog has three wives listed. Under Mary King, niece, b 1878 is (her brother) Sam King b 1881 as "adopted son/nephew. It lists Sam Kings's son later as Jerome King. So one of the wives of Crazy Dog would be related to Visible, the King children's mother.
