Is there any known list of Cheyenne (Northern Cheyenne and Dog Soldiers especially) for the battles and skirmishes after Sand Creek, through the Connor Powder River Expedition and through Red Clouds War?
I would love to have something similar to the link below for the above mentioned period, with society and rank noted if possible. I'd love to have anything about society sizes during this time as well. I have spent hours and hours and I cannot find anything of the sort. I'm not even finding enough information to start a list of my own.
The few famous warriors are easy to find, but that's about it. I would love to know who the headmen and officers of the Northern Kit Foxes, Elkhorns, Crazy Dogs were and the autonomous Dog Soldiers of this time were and who were these societies sash wearers, the banner lance holders, the pipe carriers.
The Crazy Dogs for example had ten of their bravest warriors carry the banner lance and they had the nine 'little chiefs' but I am not sure if there were crossovers or were there 19 recognized warriors besides the headman?
I know the Dog Soldiers had 4 sash wearers, with 2 of those being identified as the bravest with different regalia to note that, but I've never heard a name mentioned.
Any help would be greatly appreciated and this is isn't just for me, I plan on helping to improve the amount of information we have for the Cheyenne section of the forums and this would be a great start.
I have a Google Sheets file started for this and once there is enough names to get it going I will make it public for this site and members can access it and work on it.
Thanks!
(I'd love the same thing for 1865-1869)
