The reknown American Indian Material Culture expert Mike Cowdrey just has got an essay online about a Blackfeet War Chief’s Shirt & Leggings of the 1830s. The wonderful shirt, leggings and some other items will be sold at Skinner Auctions, Boston. Links to essay and site are listed below: In February of last year, at an estate sale in County Kilkenny, Ireland, some astonishing 19th century survivals reappeared from an attic trunk where they had been stored since the late-19th century. These included an 1830s Blackfeet War Chief's quilled & painted shirt & leggings, both trimmed with a heavy fringe of human hairlocks and yellow-dyed horse mane; and an 1840s Saulteau War Chief's turban-headdress. www.skinnerinc.com/auctions/2893B assets.skinnerinc.com/pdf/media/2893B_Blackfeet_Shirt_Leggings_Essay.pdfassets.skinnerinc.com/pdf/media/2893B_Ojiwaba_Headress.pdf
